The CertaSite Story
Jeff Wyatt had a vision for what he wanted in a fire protection and life safety company. The man had been in the industry almost 30 years. He believed it was time for fresh thinking in the world of fire and life safety. So, in 2018, his vision became a reality, and a new kind of fire protection and life safety company was born: CertaSite.
At CertaSite, we see possibilities others don’t. We are building relationships and partnerships others won’t. And we offer competencies others can’t. All because we’re ever fascinated with helping our partners stay prepared, positive, and profitable.
Today, CertaSite is the premiere fire protection and life safety company. We exist to keep people and property safe all while disrupting the industry in ways no company comes close to.

2018
April
Jeff Wyatt hired as CEO of a yet-to-be-named fire and life safety company.
June
County Fire Protection, with offices in OH (Columbus, Kent, Toledo) and PA (Rimersburg), is acquired.
July
Company expands Midwest footprint by acquiring Approved Protection Systems in Kalamazoo, MI.
September
Field’s Fire Protection, located in Grand Rapids and Detroit, MI is acquired.
2019
February
The fire protection and life safety company continues expansion with the acquisition of Company One, located in Fulton, IL, and Bettendorf, IA.
March
The CertaSite brand is formed, and the company is named.
April
CertaSite continues building footprint in Michigan by acquiring Spears Fire & Safety, located in Ann Arbor and Jackson, Michigan.
May
CertaSite Academy, the company’s learning and development platform, is launched.
September
CertaSite acquires EPS, located in Detroit, MI.
2020
February
Another Ohio acquisition takes place. CertaSite acquires ABC Fire Extinguisher Co. in Youngstown, OH.
April
First Indiana acquisition occurs. CertaSite acquires Approved Safety & Security, Inc. located in South Bend, IN.
May
All acquired companies transition to be branded CertaSite.
July
CertaSite’s Pennsylvania footprint grows with acquisition of Advanced Fire Company in Greensburg, PA.
August
CertaSite’s charitable giving arm, CertaSite Serves, is formed and launched by collecting more than 7,500 lbs of food and essential items for local shelters and charities.
October
A new state! CertaSite lands in Wisconsin with acquisition of Starfire Extinguisher Co. in Franklin, WI
December
CertaSite acquires Great Lake Fire in Aplena, MI.
2021
April
CertaSite broadens Toledo, OH, reach by acquiring Marine Fire Sales & Service.
August
CertaSite acquires Premier Electronics in Clinton Township, MI, and Craynon Fire Protection in Dayton, OH.
October
CertaSite becomes a Knox Trusted Partner with The Knox Company, creator of the KnoxBox.

New headquarters in Indianapolis, IN, opens

February
CertaSite plants roots in Kentucky by acquiring Teasley Fire Protection in Frankfort.
April
CertaSite enters a new market by acquiring Midwest Fire in White Pigeon, MI.
July
CertaSite expands Columbus, OH, footprint by acquiring Hamrick Fire Systems.
August
CertaSite acquires two new companies: the service side of Burnside Fire Protection in Cincinnati, OH, and Fire Loss Control out of Brunswick, OH.

Our goal isn’t, necessarily, to be the biggest, but best at what we do.
Jeff is the guy with a vision. He founded CertaSite after working at Koorsen Fire and Security for 25 years, where he worked his way up the corporate ladder—from installation technician all the way to president of the company.
Jeff served in the United States Navy as an interior communications electrician and also holds certifications in electricity and electronics.
A 30-year veteran of the industry, Jeff has overseen the ongoing addition of locations to the CertaSite family since the company was formed in March 2019. Under his leadership, CertaSite now boasts a presence in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Kevin excels in sales because he also excels in understanding his clients’ needs.His track record in sales leadership includes developing high-performing sales teams and leaders across the country with best in class sales processes, training and development. Prior to joining CertaSite, he was director of sales for Stericyle in Chicago. He has also represented Cintas in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Los Angeles, California.
Kevin graduated magna cum laude from Miami University of Ohio. He studied business and marketing at the Ohio college.
Sean is the one who keeps CertaSite financially strong and positioned for growth. As CFO, he brings decades of financial leadership across industries, with expertise in strategic planning, financial operations, and business development. He has led financial teams both domestically and internationally, ensuring companies scale efficiently and sustainably.
With a track record of driving financial strategy and operational excellence, Sean plays a key role in supporting CertaSite’s continued expansion. He earned his degree from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
Scott brings 25+ years of operations leadership to CertaSite, where he ensures our teams are fully integrated and running efficiently each day. He has a strong track record of leading complex service organizations and scaling operations across industries and geographies.
Prior to joining CertaSite, he served as COO at SEAM Group, overseeing global teams of technicians, engineers, and safety professionals—work that led to the company’s acquisition by ABB in 2024. He’s also played a key role in the growth of EV infrastructure across North America through senior roles at Electrify America, EVgo, and his own consulting firm.
A West Point graduate and U.S. Army veteran, Scott served in Iraq and Afghanistan and is a two-time Bronze Star recipient for his leadership in combat.
